Speed and Safety: Composite Materials in Motorsport

Luca Pignacca graduated at the Polytechnic University of Milan with a Master in Aerospace Engineering in 1988. In 2009 he completed the Executive Master in Technology and Innovation Management

In 1990, after compulsory military service, he started his career at BMS Scuderia Italia, a Formula 1 Team based in Brescia, Italy, working as race engineer for three years. At the end of 1993, he left BMS to join Dallara company where he was appointed Chief Designer.

He is currently in charge of the Design Department at Dallara Automobili, overseeing all design activities performed by the Company.

He had been Project Leader in many important racing projects: Ferrari 333 SP – IMSA, Ferrari F50 GT, Honda F1-99, Midland F1-06, HRT F1-10, Audi R8 - R10 – R15 carbon monocoque, Dallara - Le Mans Series, Super Nissan, Dallara GP2 2005 & 2008, Dallara GP3 2010, Renault World Series 3.5 litres 2005 & 2008, KTM X-bow and other projects covered by confidentiality.

Between 1994 and 1995 he has also participated, as Project Leader, in the construction of the 2nd wind tunnel in the history of Dallara.
